Obstetric ultrasonography – pregnancy week: over 32

The ultrasound examination is used to assess:

• number of foetuses and their location;
• cardiac function;
• biometrics;
• morphology of the foetus;
• structures and location of the placenta;
• umbilical cord;
• volume of the amniotic fluid.

The examination is preformed after 32 weeks of pregnancy.

An ultrasound examination is an imaging method that uses ultrasound waves. This technology is based on ultrasound wave reflection from the structures of internal organs.

• The examination does not require any particular preparation.
• The examination takes approximately 15-20 minutes.
• The results are given to patients in the form of a medical description along with an ultrasound picture. The whole documentation is printed during an appointment and patients receive the original copy of their results.
• There are no contraindications to this examination. It is safe for both the mother and the baby, and can be performed at all stages of pregnancy.
