VERACITY is one of the most advanced non-invasive prenatal tests (NIPT). It is a next-generation test that allows the detection of chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus at an early stage of pregnancy.
The material used for the test is the mother's blood sample. During pregnancy, free fetal DNA passes through the placenta into the woman's bloodstream. The VERACITY test isolates the free fetal DNA from the blood sample taken from the pregnant woman, and then it undergoes detailed analysis.
VERACITY can be the first screening test performed during pregnancy.
Who should undergo the test?
The VERACITY test can be taken by any pregnant woman who wants to gain insight into fetal development.
The test is particularly recommended for women who:
- are over 35 years old (as the risk of certain genetic disorders increases),
- have a family history of chromosomal number or structure disorders,
- have had genetic disorders in previous pregnancies.
VERACITY is also recommended if the results of previously conducted screening tests (e.g., PAPP-A test) showed an increased risk of genetic disorders.
In case of an increased risk result, we provide:
- a free consultation with aclinical geneticist,
- a free consultation with aMindHealth psychologist.
Advantages of the VERACITY Test
- Safety – the test only requires a blood sample from the woman, so it does not pose a risk of miscarriage or other complications.
- Accuracy – the detection rate of the disorders covered by the test is over 99%.
- Availability – the test can be performed from the 9th week of pregnancy in women of any age.
The effectiveness of the VERACITY test has been confirmed for both single and multiple pregnancies, as well as pregnancies resulting from in vitro fertilization.
Scope of the Test
The VERACITY Core test is a test for the three most common and best-researched genetic disorders.
This group includes Trisomies, which involve the presence of an additional autosomal chromosome. An increased number of chromosomes results in the following diseases:
- Down Syndrome (trisomy 21)
- Edwards Syndrome (trisomy 18)
- Patau Syndrome (trisomy 13)
The VERACITY test provides parents with valuable knowledge about fetal development. The genetic disorders it detects are associated with serious consequences affecting the quality of life. Early detection of these disorders gives parents the chance to prepare for the child's illness.
The test also detects the presence of the Y chromosome, making it possible to determine the baby's gender (at the parents' request).
Why VERACITY?
The VERACITY test is one of the most accurate tests for detecting Down Syndrome, Edwards Syndrome, and Patau Syndrome. It detects more developmental disorders than traditional screening tests in the first trimester, and can also be performed from the 9th week of pregnancy (earlier than the PAPP-A test and first-trimester ultrasound).
