Fine needle biopsy of the breast is a procedure involving collecting biological material from 1 lesion using a very thin puncture needle.

During the fine needle aspiration biopsy of the breast, biological material is collected, which is then subjected to cytological evaluation. 
Fine needle aspiration biopsy of the breast can help in diagnosing or excluding malignant breast changes.

The procedure does not require local anesthesia because very thin needles are used, and the pain level is much lower than that of a standard blood draw.

The examination does not require special preparation.  
The following is necessary to perform the biopsy:

• Referral from a doctor - in paper form
• Ultrasound result of the examined organ with images - no older than 3 months
• Paper version of the mammogram result (if the examination was performed)

Waiting time for results: up to 7 calendar days

If the doctor finds more than 1 lesion during the examination, which in their opinion should be examined, and the patient decides to undergo biopsy of another lesion, the patient is required to pay for the biopsy and cytological examination of the additional lesions at the facility.
