HBs antigen
The HBs antigen test is a blood test performed to
detection of the hepatitis B virus which is the main
cause of hepatitis.
The HBs antigen is the first antigen to appear after
B virus infection.
The virus is transmitted by the blood route and with other body fluids
body fluids.
HBs antigen is the first antigen to appear after infection with the
B virus, it appears 6 weeks after infection, 2-4 weeks
before the onset of jaundice.
Beyond 6 months, the acute period of the disease can progress to a
chronic with the development of viral carriage.
