Lead – plasma

Physiologically, lead is not present in the body. Determination of serum lead concentration is used to diagnose and treat conditions associated with lead poisoning.


The main sources of lead contamination are:

• industry fuel, 
• lead products (e.g batteries), 
• paints containing lead, 
• old waterworks, 

Lead is absorbed by ingestion or inhalation, accumulates mainly in the bone, where it remains for a very long time.
