Neuron-specific enolase – NSE

Neuron-specific enolase is found in the cytoplasm of cells of Neuroendocrine tumors. It may be a tumor marker.

Increased levels of NSE are found earliest in cancer of the small cell lung cancer and in 50% of pancreatic islet cell tumors pancreatic.
