Determination of reticulocyte levels in the blood.

Reticulocytes are red blood cells that have been circulating in the bloodstream for less than 48 hours. Reticulocytosis reflects the bone marrow synthesis of red blood cells over the past 48 hours. The percentage of reticulocytes and their absolute count enhance the diagnosis and differentiation of anemia.

Particularly useful in monitoring the treatment of anemia.
